Open to All Faculty and Especially Recommended for New Faculty
This two-part workshop is designed to assist faculty in preparing a course proposal for review by the Senate Curriculum and Instruction Committee (undergraduate courses) or by the Senate Graduate Studies Committee (graduate courses). The workshop is open to all faculty and especially for those who are planning to create a new course and submit it for approval and for new faculty not familiar with the NJCU course approval process. During Part I of the workshop, Dr. Farina will outline the full course approval process, from the initial departmental stage, through college-level curriculum committees, Senate committees, Senate approval and final approval by the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Participants will examine the official Senate Guidelines for course proposals and learn about the most common problems encountered by members of past and present Senate committees. There is a review of student learning outcomes and successful proposals approved by the Senate in the past will be examined. During Part II of the workshop, faculty with course proposal drafts will have the opportunity to discuss their draft with the presenter and receive suggestions. |
