University Committee on Assessment of Student Learning |
The University Committee on Assessment of Student Learning (UCASL) is charged with: (1) developing and maintaining the university-wide student learning assessment plan; (2) providing support and assessment information to academic departments; and (3) developing policy with regard to the conduct of student learning assessment at NJCU as this relates to faculty workplace issues.
Note: Program Reviews are conducted by the Academic Deans who are responsible for creating schedules for such reviews with their respective departments including departments with specialized accreditation requirements. The assessment plan contained in program reviews shall be coordinated with the efforts of the UCASL.

UCASL Responsibilities |

The UCASL working in conjunction with the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Academic Deans serves as the primary source of assessment communication and support to the faculty.

The UCASL and the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning are responsible for developing the University-wide student learning assessment plan, publicizing the plan and associated activities on the CTL website, conducting assessment interviews, and maintaining the assessment database in conjunction with the Center for Teaching and Learning, Academic Departments, and the Academic Deans.

The UCASL in consultation with, the Academic Deans, and the VP for Academic Affairs is responsible for developing a realistic assessment plan timeline.

The UCASL collaborates with all stakeholders to ensure the timely implementation of the plan.

The UCASL holds regularly scheduled meetings.

The University-wide student learning assessment plan will be located on the CTL website which will also serve as the repository for department mission statements, goals, objectives, and department progress reports.
