Career Development applications are requested during each semester and summer session, pending availability of funds and current contractual arrangements. Funds are awarded for the following activities:
-
professional development as a result of the review of tenured faculty members and multi-year contract employees;
-
continuing education in the form of tuition support; and
-
travel related to workshop presentations and participation in summer institutes.
Faculty and professional staff members are invited to apply each year. Awards typically range from $50 to $1,500. The Career Development Committee (CDC) consists of members of the AFT local 1839 and at least one appointee of the administration. The CDC's recommendations are forwarded to the Vice President for Academic Affairs who may accept, reject or modify each of the recommendations.
