Minor in African/African American Studies
The New Jersey City University Program in African/African American Studies offer students multi-disciplinary perspective of the cultures and peoples of Africa and African-American descent in the Americas. The program explores in depth, the historical, social, political, and economic experiences of Africans and African Americans. We provide a global understanding of African/African Americans in the contemporary world.
Program Goals/Outcomes
Students who minor in the African/African American studies should be able to:
- To understand African civilization as the foundation of African American culture and experiences.
- To analyze the role African people have played in developing American and world civilizations.
- To understand American history is enhanced by learning about the African American historical experiences and contributions.
- To demonstrate an understanding of the culture, history, and contributions of African people in the diaspora.
- To demonstrate an understanding of the geo-politics of Africa today.
- To demonstrate knowledge about the role played by international and regional organizations in the development of Africa.
