General Studies Program
The General Studies Program (GSP) at NJCU is housed within the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences.  The GSP was developed in 1999 and implemented in 2001.  Its basic structure is a 66 credit program comprising required courses and electives organized within a distribution scheme.  Assessment and oversight of the program is handled by the General Studies Coordinating Committee, a standing committee within the College of Arts and Sciences.

This table lists the courses in the GSP by department.

From the menu on the left you can access an overview of the history of general studies at Jersey City State College/New Jersey City University.

We also have a selection of reading material relative to general studies available, as well as an expanding list of Hudson County resources (submission of additional resources welcome!).
