Become familiar with the available technology hardware and software, appropriate at the University level, that can aid our students to be more effective learners.
Join us for this hands-on interactive workshop where you will learn about assistive technology available to all students, staff, and faculty at NJCU.Participants will view demonstrations and experiment with a variety of technologies that can be used by our students, particularly those with disabilities to enhance their learning.
Technology to be presented includes the WYNN literacy software and SOLO programs. WYNN is the innovative software tool designed to enhance success for students with reading challenges and writing difficulties. By using a bi-modal approach - simultaneous highlighting of the text as it is spoken - WYNN transforms printed text into understandable information that benefits readers of all ages including English Language Learners (ELL), struggling readers and individuals with ADD (attention deficit disorder). SOLO is a software tool set that builds learning skills in reading, writing, planning, organizing, revising, and editing for students. SOLO can help your students improve skills with content area reading, research projects, and essay writing. Other software will include Inspiration, software for brainstorming and organizing; Dragon Naturally Speaking, a speech to text software program; the DANA, a lap top key board for note taking with blue tooth technology; and much more! Drop in anytime and stay as long as you like! |
