Enhance Student Engagement in the Online, Blended, or Web-Enhanced Course

One of the advantages of online learning is that students are forced to write, and no matter how shy, to participate in discussion. In this practical workshop, best practices in using the Discussion Forum as a tool for teaching and learning including assessing such skills as writing and critical thinking are demonstrated.

By properly structuring the Discussion Forum and assignments, the students become engaged in scholarly discourse and develop enthusiasm for the subject matter. In a hands on exercise demonstrating how to use discussion forum, rubrics for evaluating responses will be provided and participants will use these rubrics to evaluate student samples.
