This introductory course on photovoltaics (PV) systems, a growing industry based on harnessing energy from the sun, emphasizes design and installation theory, requirements, equipment, and basic procedures. Topics will include PV applications, basics of electricity, PV system components, solar site analysis and mounting, utility active PV systems, component specification, system costs and economics, case studies, and safety issues.
