The Counseling Center assists the Financial Aid office by conducting interviews with students who are appealing a determination of ineligibility for financial aid due to unsatisfactory progress. During these interviews, the counselors evaluate a student's situation and make recommendations regarding the outcome of that student's appeal.
If you are deemed to be making unsatisfactory progress, and would like to appeal this decision, call our office at
201-200-3165 to set up an appointment for an interview. Be sure to indicate that you are appealing a determination of unsatisfactory progress by the Financial Aid office.
When you come for your interview, you MUST bring with you:
-
A typewritten letter of appeal, outlining the reason(s) you have failed to achieve NJCU's Standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress, and the reason(s) why you feel your appeal should be granted. Your letter needs to specifically address any F or W grades you have received, and should be signed, dated, and include your Gothic ID number.
-
Any documentation concerning the reasons you have failed to achieve the Standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress (i.e. medical records)
