The Writing and Reading Assessment Profile (WRAP) is taken by all non-exempt students in College Writing, Reading and Writing Across the Disciplines (RWAD), and English Composition I/CCLA classes.
The WRAP is given during the last week of classes
before finals week.
College Writing students must receive a score of 4 on the WRAP to pass College Writing and become eligible to take English Composition I and Writing Lab.
Reading and Writing Across the Disciplines students must receive a score of 3 on the WRAP to pass RWAD and become eligible to take RWAD II.
RWAD students who receive a score of 4 on the WRAP become eligible to skip RWAD II and enter ECI and Writing Lab.
RWAD II students must receive a score of 4 on the WRAP to pass RWAD II and become eligible to take English Composition I and Writing Lab.
The WRAP includes a reading passage. Students are required to read the passage and write an essay in response to a question based on the reading.
The WRAP is scored according to criteria defined on the WRAP Essay Rubric.
Presently, WRAP scores are translated into English Placement Test-style scores (1-5) for the purpose of entering them on GothicNet.
At present, WRAP scores recorded in this form appear on the GothicNet Test Results pages under the test name "MCET." The "Letter Score" indicates what class the WRAP was taken for,
not the placement results of the exam.

If you have any questions about the WRAP, please contact Professor Joshua Fausty, Assistant Chair of English (Composition) at jfausty@njcu.edu or call 201-200-3338.
