STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE
2008-2009
The State of New Jersey requires (by law) that every full-time college student must maintain health insurance coverage throughout the period of their enrollment. For the purpose of insurance, full-time undergrad students must be registered for 12 or more credits and full-time grad students must be registered for 9 or more credits.
To assist students in meeting this requirement, a discounted Student Health Insurance Plan through the insurance company
(
FIRST STUDENT) has been introduced at New Jersey State Colleges and Universities for the 2008/2009 Academic Year. The student health insurance (FIRST STUDENT) is underwritten by the Student Resources Division of the
United Healthcare Insurance Company.
On this website you will have access to a variety of customer services such as the policy brochure, printing a temporary ID card, requesting a permanent ID card, waiving the insurance coverage, tracking a claim, locating a preferred provider or participating pharmacy, and more.
COST
The premium is automatically added to the tuition bill of full-time students. Coverage is effective August 15th, 2008 through August 1st, 2009. The fee for the full academic year
(2008/2009) is $158.00
PART-TIME STUDENTS AND DEPENDANTS
Part-time students are
not required to have insurance coverage and will not be charged. Part-time students can opt to purchase the policy (directly from the FIRST STUDENT website) and eligible spouses and dependents of students may be enrolled in the plan for an additional fee paid directly to the insurance company.
The University will not be involved in billing or collecting fees for this optional insurance purchase.
