The Media Arts Department offers a major program of study in media, providing students with a rigorous foundation in media production, as well as the opportunity to pursue a concentration in the areas of sound, video, film, and digital media production. Students are required to complete 51 credit hours in the Media Major. Of these, thirty-three (33) core credits are required of all Media Arts Majors. Core requirements in the media major include instruction and practical experience in multi-media, audio, video, and film production, and further prepares students through a foundation in writing and media theory. A Departmental goal for our students is to encourage intelligent judgements, creative and socially responsible pursuits, and to enable students to live enriched aesthetic lives in the careers of their choice. The major in media prepares students as independent producers and encourages them to develop fluency and flexibility in all aspect of media production.

The Media Arts Department is accredited by NASAD - the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Media Arts Department Graduate Committee is currently developing a Master of Fine Arts program in media production.
