The Media Arts Department of New Jersey City University in Fries Hall houses a full color, broadcast-quality television studio; digital media labs, radio and audio production facilities, and 16mm film production facilities. The facilities have a studio/classroom for multi-media production, and two large projection/seminar rooms for weekly screenings. Completing the Department are AVID and Final Cut Pro video editing suites, two MAC labs for digital media production, Pro-Tools sound editing, and 16mm Steenbeck editing suites.

The George Karnoutsos Arts and Sciences Hall designed by renowned architect Michael Graves adjacent to Fries Hall features the new 2000 square foot audio studios of the Media Arts Department. This state-of-the art audio facility houses a live recording studio, radio control rooms, and a multi-track post-production suite. The facility was custom designed by John Storyk and Associates, five time winner of Mix magazine's Technical Excellence + Creativity (TEC) Award in Acoustic Studio/ Facility Design. Storyk and Associates has overseen the studio designs at institutions such as NPR and Thirteen/WNET as well as the home recording studios for Stevie Wonder, Rick Rubin, and Whitney Houston.
