Nick Efteriades received his MFA in Film from Columbia University and his BA from Dartmouth College. A native of Boston, he has made his home in New York for the past sixteen years where he has worked as a filmmaker, journalist, and educator. His debut feature, Astoria, was a World Premiere selection at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and an award-winner at several festivals worldwide. Astoria was released theatrically in the US in 2002. His other films include the experimental short November 17th; the narrative shorts Fat Tuesday and Hit Men; and the documentary, Boston’s Greek-Americans. His work has been honored by the Queens Museum of Art, the Hellenic Museum of Art, and Culture in Chicago, and by the Ministry of Culture of Greece. He is also a creative consultant and serves on the selection committee for the Independent Feature Project’s Annual IFP Market, one of the most important showcases of works by independent filmmakers in the nation. Efteriades works as a communications consultant for The McGraw Hill Companies and has taught film and media at Fordham University and St. Francis College.
