In the Sound Area of the Media Arts Department, students create and study sound including music, radio, post-production for film and video, as well as new media. All media arts students master sound recording, editing and mixing techniques. Advanced audio students lend their recording and mixing talents to their peers’ film and video works. These collaborations are evident in the high quality soundtracks that play integral roles in media arts student films that have screened at major festivals. Music recording affords a direct partnership of the student with the artist, bridging the gap between technology and creativity. The Department's new sound production suite, designed by acoustical architect John Storyk of WSDG, houses an expanded Pro Tools HD post-production/music recording studio and two radio production areas - one for live internet streaming and the other for class and production work.
