How to Apply for Reistatement to F1 Student Status

1. COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION FORMS:

Attachment to Form I-539 – REQUEST FOR REINSTATEMENT TO F-1 SUDENT STATUS. You are stating our case with Immigration Services to permit you to continue your studies at New Jersey City University ! You must write your request with that in mind. It is up to you to convince the Immigration Officer that will review your application that you qualify for reinstatement

2. ATTACH THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO YOUR APPLICATION:

Evidence . Attach documents that prove your case.
Your new I-20 Form from New Jersey City University. If we are preparing your I-20 for you now, you can sign it when you bring your Reinstatement Application into the office.
Photocopies of all previous Forms I-20 you have been issued by New Jersey City University and former schools.
Photocopy of Form I-94 Departure Record. Both sides.
$300 Fee in the form of a money order. Make it payable to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services or USCIS.
Photocopy of your SEVIS Fee payment receipt if you paid it prior to violating your status, or were required to repay because you violated your status more than five months.

INFORMATION ABOUT APPLICATION PROCESSING

The Office of International Students and Study Abroad will send your application to USCIS, certified mail, return receipt requested.

USCIS may take up to five months to review your application and reply to us. You will be able to check the status of your request online at www.uscis.gov YOU MAY CONTINUE YOUR STUDIES WHILE THE APPLICATION IS BEING PROCESSED BUT NOT WORK.

If you decide to travel before you receive an answer to your application, consult with your International Student Advisor first!
