Mission Statement
Who we are
The OSP was created to meet the challenges presented by a diverse, urban student population by providing quality services that are incisive, innovative and student-centered. We seek to improve the quality of life for students in everything we do and to empower students to be the best they can be. We strive to do this in a caring and supportive way. To this end, we constantly reassess what we do and why. We work to deliver the best services in the most expedient, efficient and effective ways possible.
By remaining student centered and service-oriented, we meet our responsibility to create and maintain a nurturing climate, to enhance student involvement, and to reinforce the students' academic experience. At the same time we present challenges to students which further their leadership abilities. |
What We Believe
In OSP we believe in anticipating the needs of our students, to not only meet but to exceed their expectations. Our staff is skilled, accessible and motivated. Working as a team, we focus on implementing policies and refining procedures affecting our students. During the students' OSP experience we address their concerns, building up their confidence through considerate, courteous |
attention and making the solving of their problems our primary goal. Anticipating their needs, we strive to go beyond their expectations. We listen to them and encourage them to speak and act for themselves, while educating them about their rights and responsibilities. As they grow, we see to it that opportunities are generated for them, and we help them toward their academic and career goals. Further, we are willing to devote extra time and effort to serve as their advocate, articulate their needs, express their concerns, and act on their behalf. |
We never assume that what we are doing now is going to work for students next year. We evaluate what we do on a regular basis, seek input from our students, and are willing to make changes to improve OSP and to meet new challenges. |

on outcomes rather than procedures.
We anticipate the needs of students, and we meet or exceed their expectations. Our priorities are shifted from generating rules to generating opportunities and solving problems.
