Undergraduate Application Process

 
STEP 1:
OSP Freshman Application Process
Complete the New Jersey City University admissions application, making sure you check YES in the box asking if you are applying for EOF/OSP. (If you do not have an admissions application, contact the admissions office at 201-200-3234 or 1-888-441-NJCU). Return the application to the admissions office and arrange to have your official high school transcript mailed directly to the admissions office.

Include with your application the following items:

  • Official copy of High School Transcript or GED scores and diploma
  • An application fee of $50 (cash, personal check, or money order) make payable to NJCU
  • See your guidance counselor and ask if you qualify for an admissions application fee waiver or fee waiver letter
  • Two strong letters of recommendation from your teacher
STEP 2:
IMPORTANT
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by mail or by logging onto www.fafsa.ed.gov on the Internet. Be sure to list New Jersey City University as your No. 1 college to be sure that your information is sent to  NJCU, The federal school I.D. code is 002613.
STEP 3:
When your application is complete, the admissions office must send it to the OSP office before you can be invited to the university for an OSP freshman orientation/interview session.
 
Admission applications will not be accepted in the OSP office after Friday, February 28, 2014. 

 
 
 
 


Readmit OSP Application Process

As a readmit OSP student you are eligible for OSP if you have a CGPA 2.00 or better, are making satisfactory academic progress, can demonstrate to an OSP Counselor that you have the potential to complete a university program and qualify for financial assistance.  All readmit students must be accepted by the University before applying for re-admittance into the OSP

  • Readmit students who left NJCU must be accepted by the University before applying for readmittance into OSP.
  • Complete OSP Readmit Interview Form and submit it to the Financial Aid Office, located in Hepburn Hall, Room 215
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

If Ms. Smith-Younger determines that you are financially eligible, you will be contacted to schedule an interview with an OSP Counselor, who will make the final decision about your acceptance into OSP. If you are deemed ineligible, you will be notified by mail.


Attention: All EOF Transfer Students

At NJCU the EOF Program is called the Opportunity Scholarship Program (OSP). Entry into OSP is not automatic. In order to be accepted into OSP, you must be financially eligible, interviewed and accepted by an OSP Counselor. Once accepted into OSP, you will be eligible to receive EOF Grant, personal and academic counseling, tutoring services, and funds to purchase books and supplies.


TRANSFER OSP Application Process

Upon receipt of your acceptance letter from the Admissions Office at NJCU:

  • Complete the OSP Transfer Application and submit it to Katrina Smith-Younger at the Financial Aid Office, located in Hepburn Hall, Room 215
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

On the day of your appointment with an OSP counselor, bring with you:

  •   A copy of your Transfer Credit Evaluation Form.

If Ms. Smith-Younger determines that you are financially eligible, you will be contacted to schedule an interview with an OSP Counselor, who will make the final decision about your acceptance into OSP. If you are deemed ineligible, you will be notified by mail.


OSP Graduate Application Process

    An EOF graduate grant of 2,100 per year is available to students who are accepted by the NJCU Graduate Division and fit EOF eligibility requirements. To be eligible to receive an EOF Graduate Grant at NJCU, a student must be:
  • A matriculated student or have the intention to matriculate
  • Registered full time (12) credits
  • A citizen or permanent resident - Financially eligible

Upon receipt of your acceptance letter from the Graduate Office at NJCU:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Complete the EOF Graduate Program Payment Request and Information Form, and submit it to Mr. Andrew Platizky, Vodra Hall, Room 211.
