TUTORING
Free to all OSP students, tutoring support helps you to increase study skills and proficiency in your academic subjects. Frequently, better grades are the result of tutoring. Tutors help you to overcome specific problems -- and that helps to keep you focused on your goals.
The program offers one-on-one tutoring as well as group tutoring. One of the current projects involves working with students in FYE clusters. A tutor is assigned to each cluster and works with the instructors as well as groups of students.

Experienced tutor Joan Serafin recently conducted a special tutoring workshop for OSP tutorson the subject of how to tutor learning disabled students

Special writing workshops are given to our students who have not yet passed the departmental writing test (the Writing and Reading Assessment Profile, or WRAP).
There is a great deal of experience among the tutors. More than half have been with the program 5 years or more. One of these has put in ten years and two fifteen or more. Four tutors currently teach courses in the university, including EC1, EC1/ESL, Civilizations 2, and Introduction to Microcomputer for Business. Two of these instructors also teach courses at Hudson County Community College. |
