Louise Stanton is the newest member of the Department of Political
Science. She joins us as an Assistant Professor and is the Director
of Pre-Law minor program. Dr. Stanton is also an adjunct professor
in the Department of Political Science masters program at New York
University and teaches online with the American Public University
System. For several years, she has taught a variety of introductory
and advanced courses in the NJ-NY metropolitan area; her experience
and expertise straddles American politics and global studies, with an
emphasis on security studies. She received her PhD in global affairs
from Rutgers University in May 2007. A lawyer, Dr. Stanton received
a B.A. degree in political science from Georgetown University, and a
JD from Seton Hall University School of Law. Prior to the academic
sector, she practiced law in the private sector, served in various
policy-making capacities in NJ state government, and was a lobbyist
representing health, utilities, financial services, and education
clients before state and federal government officials. Dr. Stanton
is a member of the International Studies Association, the American
Political Science Association, and Women in International Security.
