Welcome!
As a Professor in the Department of Elementary and Secondary, I teach courses in social foundations of education and curriculum and instruction. I also coordinate the MA in Urban Education/ Teaching and Learning in Urban Schools. This MA offers an advanced degree for teachers throughout New Jersey who are certified already and want high-quality professional development, so that they can better serve all of their students. Course work emphasizes the application of research findings, with a special focus on culturally responsive instruction.

My research currently explores what I and the co-editor of my recent book characterize as a "global assault" on teaching, teachers, and their unions. Information about the book is found on my other website, devoted to teacher union issues.
