Assistant/Associate Professor, Accelerated BSN Program

Anticipated Vacancy

 

Anticipated Start Date:          September 1, 2010

 

Full time, all specialties considered:  pediatrics specialization preferred.  Doctorate preferred.  Will have teaching responsibilities at Jersey City campus and at the Communiversity (Wall Township, NJ).

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Teach theoretical and clinical courses in accelerated, second-degree generic BSN program

·         Serve as clinical nursing faculty in area of clinical expertise

o   select appropriate student assignments

o   conduct both pre-clinical and post-clinical student conferences

o   promote student learning and skills attainment

o   mentor students and assist in their learning at the bedside

o   advise students and evaluate student performance as stated in course objectives

o   maintain a safe learning environment

o   confer with students on their educational progress

o   participate in office hours for students as required

·         Actively participate as a member of the undergraduate BSN faculty, attend meetings, departmental and college events, and other activities as required

·         Actively participate in curriculum and program planning and development activities

·         Participate in committee work as need to support the goals of the Department, College, and University

 

Requirements:

 

·         Current New Jersey State Nursing License at time of hire

·         MSN from professionally accredited institution

·         Doctorate preferred

·         Employment experience in clinical specialty

·         Previous teaching experience

·         Demonstrated technological competence

·         Evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills

·         Commitment to diversity among faculty, staff and student body

·         Dynamic and student-centered

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Demonstrated ability to interface with external constituencies
