Assistant/Associate Professor
Anticipated Vacancy

 

 Anticipated Start Date:           September 1, 2010

 

Full time, tenure track faculty line.  Generalist with research expertise.  MS/MA required; doctorate in field preferred.  Courts and community corrections specialization a plus.  (JD not considered terminal degree for criminal justice department tenure track positions.)  Primary teaching assignment will be at the NJCU branch campus at the Communiversity (Wall Township).

Responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate and some undergraduate courses.
  • Teach research related courses and assume responsibilities consistent with departmental research needs.
  • Advise students.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Criminal Justice department, attend meetings, departmental and college events, and other activities as required.
  • Actively participate in curriculum and program planning and development activities.
  • Primary teaching assignments will be at the Communiversity campus in Wall Township, NJ.
  • Actively participate in recruitment of students at the Wall campus.
  • Organize registration and advisement activities at the Wall campus.
  • Participate in marketing activities at the Communiversity.

Qualifications:

  • MS/MA required; doctorate in field preferred
  • At least five years of professional experience required
  • Previous teaching or training experience that incorporated collaborative and active learning strategies preferred
  • Willingness and ability to teach online and web blended courses
  • Ability to communicate effectively and encourage collaboration
  • Ability to cultivate and effectively work with external constituents in the community
  • Ability to communicate effectively and encourage collaboration
  • Commitment to working in a multicultural environment
  • Must be student centered
