VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS
New Jersey City University invites applications for the position of Vice President for Student Affairs. The Vice President for Student Affairs reports directly to the President as an executive officer of the University and member of the President’s Cabinet. This position provides leadership and accountability for the administration, development, assessment and improvement of student services which meet and support the University’s mission and strategic plan.
The Vice President is responsible for the planning, development, and administration of all aspects of student affairs including the supervision of staff, programs, and activities of the University. The Vice President will be responsible to assist the President in the formulation and administration of university policies and development of long and short-range plans for achieving the goals of the University. Other areas of responsibility include, and are not limited to, the development and implementation of programs to enhance the educational, social, cultural, and personal lives of students and the total university community.
New Jersey City University is a culturally diverse public urban institution located in the greater New York metropolitan area and is one of nine state colleges/universities in New Jersey. The University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal arts and professional studies to approximately 10,000 students. The University has an extensive cooperative education program, as well as an expanding continuing education program.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in the field of higher education which shall include a minimum of 8 years of senior management leadership. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to analyze and present complex issues to a diverse group of professionals.
A master’s degree is required in counseling, higher education administration or related field. An appropriate terminal degree is preferred. The University intends to fill the position by July 1, 2010. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
