Author/Illustrator Eric Velasquez has won the Pura Belpre illustrator award for his book, Grandma's Gift!  A well deserved honor, Eric unveiled and read, for the first time,  Grandma's Gift at a book launch on the campus of NJCU on November 2, 2010!

Walter Dean Myers is the winner of the first Coretta Scott King-Virginia Hamilton Award for Lifetime Achievement. The announcement was made today by the American Library Association (ALA), during the ALA Midwinter Meeting held Jan. 15 – 19 in Boston.  F or full article, click here:

Jerry Pinkney - winner of 2010 Caldecott Award (ALA)

Rebecca Stead, author of “When You Reach Me” and Jerry Pinkney, illustrator of “The Lion & the Mouse,” are the 2010 winners of the John Newbery and Randolph Caldecott Medals, the most prestigious awards in children’s literature.

Rebecca Stead and Jerry Pinkney were among the award winners announced Jan. 18 by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), during the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston, Jan. 15 - 19. The Newbery and Caldecott Medals honor outstanding writing and illustration of works published in the United States during the previous year.  For full article, click here:
