The Act established a program to facilitate the provision of support services for special needs students and technical assistance to colleges and universities in the state. The grant program is administered by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The Special Needs Advisory Group, composed of representatives from the special needs community, other state agencies, and postsecondary institutions, recommends changes to the program as appropriate. Currently there are eight (8) centers located throughout the state that provide direct assistance to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, visually impaired, or learning disabled.
