Regional Centers of New Jersey

The New Jersey Regional Centers are funded by the Special Needs Grant Program, which originated with the Higher Education Services for Visually Impaired, Auditorily Impaired and Learning Disabled Students Act in 1986. The Act established a program to facilitate the provision of support services for special needs students and technical assistance to colleges and universities in the state. The grant program is administered by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The Special Needs Advisory Group, composed of representatives from the special needs community, other state agencies, and postsecondary institutions, recommends changes to the program as appropriate. Currently there are eight (8) centers located throughout the state .

Currently, New Jersey has eight (8) regional centers that provide direct assistance to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, visually impaired, or learning disabled.  Regional Centers are located at Bergen Community College, Camden County College, Cumberland County College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Middlesex County College, New Jersey City University, and Ocean County College.
