USDA Internship provider OPEN HOUSE - Meet and greet our summer employers and learn how you can help them achieve their goals to improve the Urban Environment
 
Friday Feb 24, DEADLINES:
Application / Recommendation
 
March 9 - Intern providers select candidates to interview & reach out to you to set interview dates
 
ca April 15, candidates selected and notified
 
Friday, Apr 27 - Pre-Internship meeting to discuss logistics, summer payment schedule, issues & concerns, etc.

Late May - early June - Internships begin, paid for approximately 8 weeks

The main goals of the USDA-sponsored project based at New Jersey City University, a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority Institution (MI) located in Jersey City, NJ are:
  1. To increase the number of well-trained food and agricultural sciences professionals (especially those from underrepresented minorities);
  2. To improve the quality of their education.
NJCU will partner with Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey (CWF) and the New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) under the sponsorship of the USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS). Partners will work with NJCU faculty and students to produce a variety of products, including:
  • faculty training and development;
  • redesigned courses/curriculum (one Introductory course and 3 Advanced courses enhanced with workshops, field trips/field work, guest lectures);
  • 24 student internships/research experiences, which will be funded by this project.
