The Eva Rubin Women’s and Gender Studies Scholarship at New Jersey City University

This scholarship is an annual award created in memory of Eva Yedlin Rubin, mother of Barbara Rubin who is a retired NJCU faculty member and Professor Emerita of Women’s and Gender Studies. The award honors and supports students working in the area of Women’s and Gender Studies. One award will be presented each spring.

Application deadline: November 15, 2006

The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who has declared a minor in Women's and Gender Studies at the time of application. Six credits of WGST course work should be completed at time of award. The award is to be used only to waive tuition for one course in Women’s and Gender Studies taught by core faculty in the program. The course selected for this award will have to be approved by the Coordinator of Women’s and Gender Studies before tuition can be waived.

Requirements:

  1. Declared minor in Women's and Gender Studies
  2. Academic achievement and commitment to the field of WGST.
  3. Among students with similar academic records, financial need will be the determining factor in the selection. Financial need as determined by rankings from the Financial Aid Office.

Selection Committee:

Applications will be reviewed according to the above criteria by a committee composed of Women’s and Gender Studies faculty members and the Director of the Speicher-Rubin Women’s Center.
