Reinventing the Republic chronicles the struggle of the
sans-papiers
to become rights-bearing citizens, and links different social movements
to reveal the many ways in which concepts of citizenship and
nationality intersect with debates over gender, sexuality, and
immigration. Drawing on in-depth interviews and a variety of texts, this
disquieting book provides new insights into how exclusion and
discrimination operate and influence each other in the world today.

online community for women, will deliver the keynote address at New Jersey City
University’s 24th
annual “Salute to Graduates of African Heritage” on Friday, April
23, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., in Multipurpose Room B of the Michael Gilligan
Student Union Lobby, 2039 Kennedy
Boulevard in Jersey
City.

Mildred
Antenor is a commentator and journalist who has appeared on “The
O’Reilly Factor,” Fox 5’s “Good Day Street Talk,”
and WLIB-AM Radio. As a
commentator on WBGO 88.3 FM-Radio, she focuses on women’s issues. She was
co-creator and co-host of the WLIB-Radio weekly show, “L’Ecole Sans
Mur (School without Walls).”

Antenor has written, edited, and developed stories for such publications as

Enterprise Magazine
, and
The Village Voice
. She has interviewed numerous people, including former news
anchor Carol Martin and New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman.
Ms.
Antenor is a member of New York Women in Communications and the MATRIX Awards
development committee. She serves as a board member and mentor for the Sandra
and Glenn D. Cunningham Foundation and the Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership
Program.
A
graduate of St. John’s University, Ms. Antenor holds a master’s degree
in liberal studies from Rutgers
University.
