Each exam is scored by two members of the Writing Assessment Exam Committee. Inter-reader reliability is very high, but in the unusual case that the two readers disagree in their score, a third reader scores the exam. Students who fail the exam can obtain copies of their scored rubrics and marked exams. [bookmark to retrieving results]
Notice that an overall score of 12 is required to pass the exam. But students must score at least a 2 (adequate performance) in each of the first two categories on the rubric (grammar and punctuation and spelling and vocabulary use). It is possible for a student to receive an overall score of 12 or above but fail the exam because of a score of 1 (weak performance) in the first two cateories on the rubric.
