The Business Administration Department in the College of Professional Studies at NJCU seeks to prepare students for lifelong learning opportunities that result in enrichment of the individuals, the organizations that employ them and the communities within which they interact. Our mission is to develop confident leaders and productive citizens by providing:
  • The necessary skills with which to build successful careers in commerce, government or not-for-profit institutions;
  • A strong academic base for continuing education, including professional development, graduate study and lifelong learning.
We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration as well as a Master of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Finance. Students are also able to minor in Business Administration or Travel and Tourism. The program offerings are based on the needs and desires of our students and the present and future demands of the global business marketplace.

The undergraduate areas of specialization are:

Accounting International Business Retail Management
Finance Management
General Business Marketing

Within each specialization, there are a number of elective options along with required advanced courses. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor to guide his or her progress in the major and offer counsel toward career goals.

The programs are also designed to provide a strong foundation for those students who plan to attend graduate school. Many pursue advanced degrees in accounting, business and law.

Since NJCU is located at the hub of the world's largest financial and industrial complex, many of our students find unique opportunities to earn while they learn. Our graduate programs are now offered at our new Harborside facility located near Exchange Place at the Jersey City waterfront. Whether they participate in the university's Cooperative Education Program or pursue individual employment, their career exposure enriches their academic experience.

For details on specialization requirements and minor programs, please contact us at (201) 200-3353.

Experienced senior-level students are employed by the department to tutor their junior colleagues in accounting, statistics and finance. Regular hours for these tutoring services are posted in the department.

The Department is a member of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and sponsors a chapter of Delta Mu Delta, the national business honor society. In spring the Department hosts an award ceremony to induct new members of Delta Mu Delta, followed by an alumni dinner.

Every year NJCU Business students participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program sponsored by the IRS. The volunteers receive intensive training so that they can assist community tax payers who would not otherwise have access to tax preparation services.
