Office of Campus Life
Mission
The Office of Campus Life under the supervision of the Office of the Dean of Students is a multifaceted department designed to serve as the central office of assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors at New Jersey City University. We seek to assist members of the university community by providing co-curricular programs and services, promoting involvement in university/community life and embracing diversity while responding to the individual needs of our students/clients. We maintain a student-centered, service-oriented perspective within our roles as advocates for students.
Vision
Campus Life staff are partners in the educational process, student advocates and community builders who welcome, support and challenge all members of the New Jersey City University community to maximize their academic, professional and co-curricular experiences.
Value Statement
Guiding Principles for achieving our vision and mission:
Advocacy – We encourage healthy lifestyle choices in response to daily challenges and competing priorities while acting as a catalyst for the intellectual, emotional, physical, and ethical development of individual students.
Challenge – We encourage student “to think out of the box” to create positive change while providing challenge and support as needed. Collaboration – We partner with other University departments, working as a team to maximize the campus life experience. Inclusiveness – We value, accept and embrace all people in our community. Learning – We provide meaningful and insightful experiences that shape our student’s personal and professional development. These principles are accomplished within a team structure that recognizes the importance of continuous quality improvement within the following areas; Orientation, Activities, Leadership, Student Government, Greek Life, Community Service, Gilligan Student union Operations, and Scheduling and Event Services. This incorporates knowledge, accuracy, flexibility, and effective management of time and resources while understanding the individual and collective needs of those we serve. |
