WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES INDUCTEES
Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges is an annual award given to outstanding campus leaders for their scholastic ability, and their participation and leadership in academic and extra curricular activities and community service.  Faculty and staff members nominate individuals they feel are worthy of this recognition.  Each institution is allowed a limited number of candidates, so all nominations are carefully considered.

DEAN'S LIST/4.0 SPECIAL RECOGNITION
To be considered for the Dean’s list at New Jersey City University, students must earn a scholastic semester grade point average of 3.5 or better and have at least 12 NJCU credits.  Recognition at the University Acheivers' Reception is given to those students who achieved this honor for past two consecutive semesters.

OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO UNIVERSITY LIFE AWARDS
These awards are given to students who have exemplified outstanding leadership and community service while maintaining exceptional grade point averages.   These awards are especially prestigious because they are named for and presented by President Carlos Hernandez, Vice President Alene Graham and Dean Lyn Hamlin.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION AWARDS
The Nancy Muniz Spirit Award is given to a student who has displayed an unmatched school spirit.  The recipient of this award has unselfishly contributed his/her time to various committees, programs and projects for the betterment of the University. The Student Government Organization provides the Spirit Award, which is named in honor of Ms. Nancy Muniz, retired Director of Student Support Services.
The Ben Jones Civil Action Award is given to a student who is politically active both on and off campus.  The recipient of this award has contributed to the NJCU student body as an advocate for social change. The Student Government Organization provides the Civil Action Award, which  is named for Ben Jones, a professor in the Art Department.

ACADEMIC & LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Students are nominated for Academic and Leadership Awards by their respective support programs or departments.  These awards are given to students who have excelled academically and have displayed exceptional student leadership while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

SPECIAL SERVICE AWARD
The Special Service Award is given in memory of the late Dr. Walter Glospie, Professor of English.  This award honors an NJCU staff or faculty member who has provided valuable service to the University community through their involvement with students.  The recipient of the Walter Glospie Service Award not only selflessly dedicates him/herself to the empowerment of NJCU students, but also contributes to the overall success of the University.
