Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Office of the Dean of Students seeks to enhance the quality of campus life for students. Devoted to promoting a safe, welcoming campus community, the major purpose of this office is to provide programming that enables and encourages students to achieve success in their academic and personal development at NJCU.

THE OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF STUDENTS:
-
Responds to all student issues, concerns and emergencies
-
Serves as the primary “link” between the students and the faculty, administrators, and staff
-
Strives to extend the learning environment beyond the classroom,
encouraging the intellectual, emotional and ethical development of the students
-
Implements initiatives to improve the campus climate, to facilitate student success, and to welcome and orient new students
-
Ensures the fair and impartial treatment of students without regard to race, color, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability or status as a disabled veterans
-
With the exception of Academic Foundations courses, notifies and advises students with regard to their academic progress (probation and dismissal) and maintains records of their status
-
Oversees and administers the Student Code of Conduct and the No Tolerance for Violence Policy

Investigates all student behavioral issues and determines appropriate sanctions
-

Develops and distributes to the Student Handbook, the Gothic Guide
-
Apprises appropriate faculty and staff with regard to students’ extended absences and maintains related records
