Hate on the Web

      Go to the website of the Southern Poverty Law Center

                 Find out the following information:

 
1.  What are the names of some of the Hate Groups operating in the United States today?

2. What is the Patriot   Group?

3.  What are one or two Hate incidents occuring in 1999?
 

4.  Go to Google.com and try to locate the websites for the following groups: Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nation, World Church of the Creator, Christian Identity. What are three things all of these sites have in common? In your opinion, do you think that these groups should be permitted to operate these web sites? Why or why not?

5.  Look through the section 10 Ways to Fight Hate. Among these suggestions which one do you think would be the most effective? Why?

Write up your report in the form of an essay in which you explain what a hate group is, some examples of hate groups, and your opinion as to whether or not these groups should be permitted to operate web sites.
