Synthesis of a series of 4-(2-substituted rhodamine) ligands
Adrienne Conklin

A series of substituted aminophenols and bromobenzaldehyde are used to synthesize rhodamine-based fluorophores. These rhodamine fluorophores will then be attached to a series of bridges, including ethynyl groups, symmetrical trans-stilbenes and finally to varying conjugated ligands. The synthesis of these bridged-ligands is currently under investigation, and after optimization and characterization, the fluorescing properties of these elongated compounds will be studied and reported.

Synthesis of a fluorophore-bridging polyphenyl ligand
Luis D. Rodriguez Jr.

The coupling of a fluorophore-bridging unit with a polyphenyl ligand represents an important class of compounds used in photolithographic, solar cell, and light emitting diode (LED) applications. The synthesis and characterization of this fluorophore and polyphenyl ligand will be discussed along with their luminescent properties.
