Jane Steuerwald produces experimental works in film and video including

The Memory Box, Jury Selection – Black Maria Film & Video Festival 2006, screened at MoMA, (The Museum of Modern Art) “Black Maria Film Festival: The Legacy of the Short Film, 2006;” Millennium Film, NYC, 2006; the NJ State Council on the Arts Fellowship Exhibition at the NJ State Museum in Trenton, 2006; the NJ State Film Festival at Cape May, 2006; Athens International Film Festival, 2006; and the Womenswork Showcase 2006 - screening at the Jersey City Museum, the Fort Lee Museum, the Red Saw Gallery in Newark, the MakeReady Press Gallery in Montclair, NJ City University, and the Hoboken Historical Museum.

Rocket Experts screened at MoMA’s Documentary Fortnight Festival, Athens International Film Festival, Reel Women in Film at the Fort Lee Film Commission, and the NJ State Film Festival at Cape May.
Adventures in Nutrition, screened at the Robert Beck Memorial Cinema at Collective Unconscious, NYC; the Atlanta Film and Video Festival, Atlanta, Georgia; and at The Franklin Furnace, NYC. Her work has screened at The Kitchen, and the Donnell Media Center, NYC.
I am driving in my car. I am walking up the hill. premiered at the Asian-American International Film Festival, NYC and was part of their festival tour; screened at Anthology Film Archives, NYC; and at the Asian Pacific American Film Festival in Washington, DC, at the Corcoran Museum of Art. Her video work is in the permanent collection of the Donnell Media Center, NYC.
Jane Steuerwald was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Black Maria Film & Video Festival for many years. She serves as a pre-screener and guest curator for the Festival. She was a juror of film, video, and sound in 2007 for the NJ State Council on the Arts/Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation in Baltimore, Maryland. She received Artist Fellowships from NJ State Council on the Arts in 1989 and 2004 as well as numerous grants from the NJ Historical Commission and NJ City University. In March 2008 she presented work at a special invitational screening at the NJ State Film Festival in Cape May, and received a film production grant from the Puffin Foundation. Ms. Steuerwald is the coordinator/curator of Urban Image, a collective of media artists based at the Media Arts Department of NJ City University; and the curator of the Womenswork Media Collective also based in Jersey City. Screenings of Urban Image and Womenswork showcases have played in venues including Millennium Film, NYC; Galapagos ArtSpace, Brooklyn, NY; The Jersey City Museum; the Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theater; the Hoboken Historical Museum; and the NJ State Film Festival at Cape May where Steuerwald is a guest curator. She was Chair of the Media Arts Department of NJ City University for seventeen years, and has taught media production, history and aesthetics for decades. She was chosen for inclusion in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities in the US, Fall 2005.
