Many people may be thinking "I'd love to study abroad but it's too expensive" Well, there is no denying that studying abroad for even a short time can really be a financial burden. Luckily there are great scholarships available. Just by doing a Google search I found a bunch and ended up applying for the Freeman Asia scholarship.
Freeman Asia (as the name may suggest) is a scholarship just for those studying in Asia. For those who aren't studying in Asia, there are lots of other scholarships just waiting for you to apply out there :D
I highly recommend that anyone studying in Asia apply for this scholarship. At the time I was applying they were offering up to $5,000 for one semester abroad, and up to $10,000 for a year abroad. I was fortunate enough to be awarded a scholarship for $5,000, without which I would have needed to take out a large loan.
One piece of advice I'd give anyone thinking about studying abroad, please apply early and stay on top of things. If you wait too long all of the scholarship opportunities will pass you by and you'll either end up having to take out loans or forego the study abroad experience.
