Application & Admissions

Admission to the Undergraduate Music Program

Students seeking admission to undergraduate study must submit a formal application which will be provided by the Admissions Office on request (201-200-3234). Students may also complete the admissions application online by accessing the University website, http://www.njcu.edu/i2e/home/index.asp. A $35.00 non-refundable fee is required of all candidates for admission. Correspondence should be addressed to:

Director of Admissions
New Jersey City University
2039 Kennedy Boulevard
Jersey City, NJ 07305

Once an application has been submitted, the student will be contacted by the music department chair in order to establish:

1. student’s major instrument or voice
2. music program desired (music education, music performance (classical and jazz), music theatre, music business, and music without specialization)

The student will then be contacted by the appropriate instrumental or vocal coordinator to schedule an audition.

If the audition is successful, and the student has been accepted by the Admissions Office, a theory and keyboard test will be scheduled to establish the appropriate classes for the first semester.
