Percussion Studies
NJCU Percussion Audition RequirementsStudents interested in pursuing a music degree in percussion at New Jersey City University, must demonstrate proficiency in one or more areas of percussion: Snare Drum, Keyboard Percussion, and Timpani. A personal audition/interview with a member of the NJCU percussion faculty must take place for acceptance into the percussion program. All instruments will be provided and students are expected to supply appropriate sticks, mallets, and music. Audition material should demonstrate contrasting styles, technique, and musicality. Students may choose from the following list of audition materials: SNARE DRUM Technique: Rudiments; orchestral and rudimental rolls at various dynamics Studies: "Portraits in Rhythm" – Anthony J. "Modern School for Snare Drum" – Morris Goldenberg "Intermediate Musical Studies" – Garwood Whaley "Rudimental Swing Solos" – Charles Wilcoxin "NARD – 150 Rudimental Solos" – assorted Additional Studies: Delecluse, Albright, Firth, Hochrainer, Pratt Solos/Etudes: Two contrasting solos/etudes from above repertoire or any All-State/Region Audition Solo
