The accounting curriculum will prepare the student to pursue a career in either public or private accounting. Other than federal agencies, major accounting firms in the area offer our students internships and job opportunities. Several graduates in accounting opt for careers in other areas of business since the accounting specialization provides them useful skills that many businesses require. Moreover, the accounting specialization provides the required background to those students planning on going into an M.B.A. or law degree.
The accounting curriculum also prepares students to sit for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination. To meet the educational requirements to sit for the CPA examination in New Jersey, students will need 150 hours of college credits. Therefore the Undergraduate program combined with the Master of Science in Accounting is designed to meet those requirements. Students planning to take the CPA examination may join the program not only to meet the requirements of the exam, but also to earn a masters degree in accounting.
