Finance

The finance major prepares students for managerial positions in finance. These include credit managers, bank managers, portfolio managers, foreign currency specialists, commodity analysts, trust managers, stock brokerage account executives and investment advisors.

The functions and responsibilities of financial managers define financial management.  While the specifics vary among organizations, some finance tasks are basic.  Funds are raised from external financial resources and allocated for different uses.  The flow of funds involved in the operations of an enterprise is monitored.  These key financial functions must be performed in all organizations - from business firms to government units or agencies, charitable groups and other nonprofit organizations.

Students specializing in finance, therefore, will gain insights into how funds are raised and invested, assets and liabilities are managed, as well as gain an understanding of strategies for financial planning and control, and the role of financial institutions, instruments and domestic markets as well as international markets.
