Captain Brian Mulligan promoted to Deputy Chief.
NJCU 1996 Fire Science graduate Brian Mulligan was promoted June 2010 to Deputy Chief of the Clifton Fire Department. Appointed firefighter in 1995, and moving up the ranks quickly, D.C. Mulligan was promoted to Lieutenant in 2002 and then to Captain in 2006 and then this past June to Deputy Chief. A very humble man, not wanting to talk about any awards he received. D.C. Mulligan did tell us that received the FMBA Valor Award in 1998 for rescuing several individuals from a burning house and he also received in 2006, Clifton’s Class 3 Rescue Award for moving a stabbed victim from a cut gas line. D.C. Mulligan also is a certified Fire Official and holds his Construction Officials license. When asked about the Fire Science program D.C. Mulligan stated that “It was a great program. The Fire Science program at NJCU helped me to start studying and network.” When asked what advice he had, he stated, “New students work hard and don’t loose site of your goals, stay persistent.” D.C. Mulligan has been married for 13 years to his lovely wife Christine and they have 3 active children; Annie 7yrs old, Kathleen 5yrs old, and Patrick 4yrs old.
