Bachelor of Science – Fire Science (Magna cum Laude). Director/Deputy Chief Boyle (Ret) served in the United States Navy on nuclear submarines before being appointed as a firefighter to the Bayonne Fire Department in 1978. During his career Chief Boyle worked in all areas of the fire department including operations, special operations, training, and administration. Promotions earned include Lieutenant (1989), Captain (1996), Battalion Chief (1999), and Deputy Chief (2003). Throughout his fire service career Chief Boyle earned two service awards, and a valor award. Chief Boyle received his bachelor’s degree from Jersey City State College in 1981. Then earned a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from Seton Hall University in 1988. In 1998, he was appointed as the 1st Fire Director of the Bayonne Fire Department. Chief Boyle has served as an adjunct professor in the Fire Science Department at New Jersey City University since 2000 and brings 30 years experience in the fire service to the Fire Science Department at NJCU. In addition to being an adjunct professor, Chief Boyle is the Fire Safety Coordinator for the Jersey City Housing Authority’s high rise buildings. Chief Boyle volunteers his time with several community organizations and is on the Directory of Marist High School in Bayonne, NJ.
