Honorary Distinguished Alumni Award 2007 – Thomas Chardavoyne joined the NJCU Fire Science Department in 2002 serving as the Director of Special Projects.
Instrumental in developing local, regional and national marketing initiatives for NJCU Fire Science, Tom also was the catalyst in the coordination of seven major Fire Science conferences held between 2002
and 2005.
Design and development of the many recognized icons associated with the finest fire science curriculum in the region are attributed to the foresight and actions of Tom.
These efforts are among the many Tom has contributed in establishing NJCU Fire Science as the premier curriculum in the land as the program enjoys the continued success of creating tomorrow’s fire service leaders.
Tom also maintained a pivotal position in the creation of the
New Jersey
Fire
Academy & Research
Center as well as the New Jersey Education and Research Fund of which he served as President.
The concept of a regional fire academy for Essex and
Hudson
Counties became a quest of crucial importance to which Tom responded.
The dedication and boundless energy exhibited in support of the finest traditions of the fire service shall serve as a landmark to Tom Chardavoyne and his membership in the Fire Science Department of New Jersey City University.
His memory lives on as NJCU Fire Science continues to flourish thanks in no small part to the talents and love of Thomas Chardavoyne.
