Bachelor of Science – Fire Science (Summa cum Laude). Charles Healey was appointed to the New York City Fire Department in 1974. Assigned to Engine Co. 13 and later Engine 10, Firefighter Healey was promoted to Fire Marshal in 1982. Upon return to field operations at Engine 279/ladder 131, he had been decorated three times for actions in the face of extreme personal risk. A Bachelor of Arts in history from Queens College (1972) and a Masters of Art in Irish History from Fordham University (1975) were earned during his twenty-eight years with the City of New York Fire Department. Continuing in the field of education, Professor Healey ha been an adjunct professor in the Fire Science Department at New Jersey City University for twenty-six years.
