Two Fire Science Students Recognized at NJCU Reception On April 21, 2011 fire science majors Andrew Getz and Stephen Hrapsky were honored at this year’s University Achievers Awards Reception. The awards reception was sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs, Office of Campus Life, and the Student Government Organization. The reception is to honor NJCU students for their outstanding academic and leadership successes throughout the past year.
![]() Senior Stephen Hrapsky received the “Spring/Fall 2010 Dean’s List 4.0 Special Recognition” for obtaining a 4.0 for the last two semesters. Stephen is a full-time student in the fire science program. He is also a member of the Point Pleasant Beach Volunteer Fire Department in New Jersey. Last month Stephen was given a conditional offer of employment as a firefighter for the Arlington County Fire Department in Virginia. Once sworn in, he will begin the Fire Academy either July or December, 2011. Junior Andrew Getz received the “Spring/Fall 2010 Academic & Leadership Award” for his exemplary qualities. A brief speech describing Andrew’s accomplishments was given during the ceremony. “Andrew joined the NJCU Fire Science family this past fall, 2010. In this short amount of time, he has proven himself to be a conscientious and diligent student. He is willing to go above and beyond to assist his fellow students both in and out of the classroom. His dedication toward achieving academic success has lead him to earn a 4.0 GPA this past fall therefore placing him on the Fire Science Honor Roll. Besides attending NJCU as a full-time student, Andrew is a volunteer firefighter for the bustling city of Edison, New Jersey. He has also recently pursued the earning of his NJ State Emergency Medical Technician certificate, expanding further yet his field of capacities and expertise in the emergency service profession. We are very proud of Andrew. He is an exceptional young man whom we are certain will represent the Fire Science program and NJCU with a life-term of valuable professional contributions to the communities in which he serves.” Congratulations on your successes! |
