NJCU 2005 Fire Science Summa cum Laude graduate Ed Mullen was promoted June, 11 2010 to Lieutenant of the Perth Amboy Fire Department. Lt. Mullen was first appointed as Firefighter to the Perth Amboy Fire Department in 2004. A firefighter for only a year, Lt. Mullen received the IAFF Valor Award in 2005 for placing his live in danger while rescuing a victim from window during a fire; hence saving her life. When asked about the Fire Science program at NJCU, Lt. Mullen stated that, “I give credit to the fire science program. I did well on the promotional exams due to the program.” Lt. Mullen and his fiancée Ashley recently married on March 13, 2010.
