Welcome to the Health Sciences Department
Gail Gordon, Professor and Chair
The health sciences faculty endeavor to serve both the professional working student and the non-traditional adult population in a flexible class schedule. Therefore, our program offers courses in various formats such as weekend, online, web-enhance, as well as courses on and off-campus.
 Students in the program are prepared to become:

critical thinkers and problem solvers when comforting health problems and issues

self-directed learners who have the competence to use basic health information and services in health enhancing ways

effective communicators who organize and convey beliefs, ideas and information about health issues

culturally competent citizens that recognize how racism, sexism, prejudice, and power impact on the health and well being of people.
Our distinguished faculty collaborate with other institutions of higher learning on current research, presenting research papers, participating on state and national advisory boards while engaging in innovative teaching and program assessments.
The faculty believe in health and social justice. We believe in the right of health for all populations. To that end, the health sciences program on the undergraduate and graduate levels presents an opportunity for students to conduct community needs assessments, population analysis, community organizing, school health development, and program health planning, implementation, and evaluation. Central to our mission is developing leaders in the field that will advocate for the elimination of health disparities and equitable access to health care for all populations.
